Depression

People are not born depressed - it is an insidious illness and it's onset can affect anyone at anytime – it is very common.

Depression induces a negative world view, you can lose faith in yourself, your abilities and your future. This negative thinking may have been developed over the course of a lifetime and can be triggered by a life event or perhaps it is something you have had to live with.

One of the most challenging aspects of depression is experiencing low energy at at time when you need to take action and this is probably the last thing you want to do. However every single step matters, no matter how small.

It takes courage to ask for help but this is a step towards beating depression and learning to enjoy life.

Marie works with a multi-method approach to the treatment of depression as it is different for each person. Her approach includes:

Whilst you can make great improvements in the very early days of treatment, recovery from depression involves changing thinking and behaviour, it usually involves more contact time - often around 15-18 sessions spread over the course of 6 mths (depending on the duration and severity). Marie will discuss this with you before your consultation.
